A little about me

Hi, my name’s Tiago, a freelance bassist with loads of studio and live performing experience across many genres. In addition to being very versatile, having toured all around Europe the United States and having the experience of many recording sessions as a bassist, I’m also a producer, songwriter and sound engineer. Because I’ve been playing bass for over 20 years and making a living out of music, you can be assured that you will have a world-class sounding bass.

The time I spent studying music, recording and playing live gave me the knowledge and technical experience to provide the perfectly recorded bass track for your music. I have got a degree in music from Middlesex University. During which I studied composition, music history, arrangement, jazz theory, performance and production to degree level. Also, I have a master in record production from the University Of West London. During which I studied advanced recording techniques, development of audio technology, manipulating sounds, combining sounds and performing in the studio. Therefore you can be confident that I’ll be able to create a professional sounding great bass.

At present, I play bass on a few original projects and function bands. Also, I’m constantly writing music for tv and have music synced on BBC, ITV, Channel 4, ABC and independent US movies. In addition to that, I run my own mobile recording studio called Soundrop and am the Head of Sound at a multi venue event space in the heart fo Shoreditch in London.

Get in touch!  I’m here to help you make your music sound even better.  I would be happy to hear from you, whatever stage your music is at.  You can email me at mail@tiagodias.co.uk or fill the contact form here.

This is the first time ever I’ve not requested a change when working with session/remote players so I’m super stoked.

Just had a proper listen and you have totally nailed it, there’s not a single thing I’d change, It’s more complex than what I had in my head but the “drive” and embellishments don’t dominate (they enhance) and it all sits perfectly in the mix, I’m so exited to get the Rhythm guitar tracked and then it’s ready for an Mix Engineer. Thank you so much!

“Tiago played bass for a few songs on my album, Put Back Charlie. He is very easy to work with, open to feedback and provided quick turnaround time as we worked remotely between Los Angeles and London. Professional, friendly, reliable and a great musician!”

“Tiago Dias is a rare gem. Not only is he very musical but as a session bass player he is very giving of his own ideas and talent but at the same time is not at all precious or prima donna-ish, and accepts direction and last minute changes of ideas, with grace and immediately.

Regarding his own bass sound, he is very conscientious and strives to give both producer and artist his best in terms of feel groove and tone on any particular song, trying several things out before settling on the final version.

Unlike many session musicians he always looked like he’d done his homework!)) Really. I recently recorded 4 tracks with him and my producer and I always looked forward to bass days when we knew working with Tiago would be nothing short of a pure joy. A rare talent, a very gifted man and an asset to London.

P.S.- He can play!”
